Margaret "Marge" Louise Madia Cooper, 88, of Avalon, PA. Born in 1930 to the late Rosario and Lauretta Madia died on April 1, 2018. Wife of the late Robert Ellsworth Cooper. Mother of Bobby Cooper of Florida, Laurie Hanahan (Tom) of Avalon, Danny Cooper (Chris) of Avalon, and Cindy Crummie (Tom) of Freeport. Marge had six granddaughters: Sandi, Kerry, Kate, Vicki, Danielle, and Sam. Great-grandmother to five. Sister of Bobby, Ross, and Rita. Her siblings Frank, Mary, Helen, Don, Vince, and Jimmy preceded her in death. Marge loved Dean Martin, John Grisham books, singing, her Steelers, and Sidney Crosby. Even in late-stage dementia, she was still known as the Cha-Cha Queen and danced with her walker. Marge hated to cook, but she was still an Italian nonna and she passed down her mother's famous sauce recipe from Taverna, Calabria. Marge was the valedictorian of her class at Mt. Assisi Academy. For many years, Marge worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and J&L Steel. Visitation on Thursday, April 5 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 6 at 10 a.m., Church of the Assumption, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Avalon Volunteer Fire Company or Friends of the Avalon Public Library.
