Anna Mae (Flaherty) Loebig

September 23, 1925 - February 11, 2016

On Thursday, February 11, 2016, Anna Mae (Flaherty) Loebig, age 90, of Bellevue. Beloved wife of Tom Loebig, loving mother of Maryanne (Tony DeCarolis) Loebig, Kathleen (Craig) Diehl, Tom J. (Heather) Loebig, David Loebig, Joyce (Peter Stegehuis) Loebig; grandmother of Greg, Michael and Sarah DeCarolis, Eric and Ben Stegehuis, Joey and Jackson Loebig, Chris and David Diehl; great grandmother of Alicia and Connor Diehl; sister of Robert Flaherty and the late Fran Flaherty, Tom Flaherty and Kitty Christ. Anna Mae was a member of the Assumption Church in Bellevue for 59 years. She has been active in the Women’s Guild, Ladies Bowling League, Pro-Life group and as a Eucharistic Minister. She loved to swim and was able to swim ¾ of a mile to celebrate her 87th birthday, and was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirate’s fan. As a member of the OASIS writing group, she wrote personal memoir stories to share with her family. She was proud of her Irish heritage, visiting Ireland four times, and was known for her delicious Irish soda bread and homemade Irish cream. Anna Mae adored the ocean. With great determination and despite health challenges, she traveled to North Carolina and was able to dip her toes in the Atlantic Ocean in August of 2015. At Anna Mae’s request, if possible, please avoid wearing dark colors and instead wear bright colors to her service. Friends will be received Monday 6-8pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc. 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10am at the Church of the Assumption, Bellevue. In lieu of flowers, family request donations to People Concerned for the Unborn Child, 3050 Pioneer Ave., Pgh, PA 15226 or to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale , AL 35210.
